Electric charging point If your home comes with an electric vehicle (EV) charging point for your personal use then it will either be:

  • directly mounted to an external wall on your home; or
  • located on a post next to your allocated parking space and will be labelled with either your address or plot number.

To charge your vehicle you will need to plug the charging cable into the EV charger and wait for the system to register your vehicle.

The lights on the EV charger should stop flashing and be a solid colour once charging has started.

If the charging point is located in a shared parking area then there should be instructions nearby or a QR barcode which you will need to scan and follow the instructions to start the charging.

The usage will be charged to your electricity bill. In some areas there will also be an app that you will need to download to set up your vehicle so you can pay for the charging.

If you require further assistance please refer to the guidance provided in your sign up pack and the instruction booklet for your system, alternatively contact us on 01296 732600.

Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging video transcript

Hello, this is a video to help you understand how your electrical vehicle charging point works.

At your property, you may have a charging point either mounted on the property wall itself or on a post next to your allocated parking space. On the post itself, it should tell you your house number or your plot number so that you understand which one is specifically yours. If it's mounted on a post like this it will be linked directly to your electricity supply which means all of the use will come up on your normal electricity bill.

The charging point that you see in this video might not look the same as any of the other ones but they all work in exactly the same way.

If the charging point is located in a shared parking area, then there should be instructions nearby or a QR barcode which you will need to scan and follow the instructions to start charging. In some areas, there will also be an app that you will need to download to set up your vehicle so you can pay for the charging.

We hope you find this video useful and if you do need further assistance or guidance please refer to your sign-up pack or alternatively, you can contact us on 01296 732600.
