The stopcock is the valve which regulates the flow of water into your home. It is usually found under the kitchen sink and looks like a tap. If it isn’t under the sink then you can refer to the sign up pack for its location.

In an emergency where you have a burst pipe or large leak, you can stop the flow of water into your home by turning the stopcock clockwise.

Stopcock video transcript

Hello, this video is to help inform you about the stop-cock in your home.

The main's water stock-cock is the valve that regulates the flow of water into your home. It can usually be found under the kitchen sink, but if it isn't there you can check the location by referring to the quick reference guide found in the signup pack you receive when you move in.

The stop-cock will probably look like a tap and should be clearly labelled, as you can see under here.

If you keep turning the tap clockwise, you will eventually stop the flow of water into your property. This is useful in an emergency if you have a burst pipe or leak which you need to stop.

We hope you found this video useful and if you require further assistance please contact us on 01296 732600.
