I started my apprenticeship within Fairhive in September 2017. As I was only 17 years of age at the time, completing an apprenticeship was the best option for me as I was not interested in attending sixth form or college. Earning while learning seemed like a great option, and I was able to obtain a qualification for Chartered Institute of Housing as a Level 2 & Level 3.

The structure of my apprenticeship helped me build relationships with many members of each department within the organisation, some of which I am still in contact with to this day.

I have been employed within Fairhive for almost 6 years now, as I was able to secure a permanent position after completing my apprenticeship. I have recently started a new position in the Allocations & Lettings team as a 12-month secondment post and since being with this team I have successfully completed my Chartered Institute of Housing Level 4. This all wouldn’t have been possible without the knowledge and experience I gained during my apprenticeship. I was very lucky that Fairhive gave me the opportunity to be able to start my career in housing and so far it has been very successful.

I started out as going to the open day, as I thought there was nothing to lose. I’m glad I did, there were so many opportunities for growth and development. I love learning new things and an apprenticeship to earn and learn was essential for me.

Since joining Fairhive in 2017, I have had opportunities to learn many skills and gain underpinning knowledge of the various services Fairhive has in the housing sector, to be able to deliver customer services to all our residents and the community.

While earning my CIH qualification along the way. Each team is welcoming and helped support me as an apprentice to achieve my goals and be successful in being a permanent employee. I have been with Fairhive coming up to 6 years and have been in my role for two years as an Allocations and Lettings Advisor.
