A look back at Mental Health Awareness Week

We learned during the campaign that ‘Anxiety’ is one of the most common mental health matters and is a natural human response when we feel worried or unsure. It can sometimes develop into overwhelming signs of restlessness, disrupted sleep, and a lack of concentration as well as worsening physical symptoms related to panic attacks.

We joined in with the conversation last week on social media to highlight the support we can offer our residents. These included our weekly Community Hub, Additional Housing Management Services, and welfare advice and support.

We also signposted other mental health resources that are available for anyone in the community. Mind are a Mental Health charity offering lots of tips and additional information on their website. They run local centres up and down the country with a variety of services including, crisis helplines, counselling and talking therapy. You can find your nearest Mind service online. The Samaritans can also help if you are working through a difficult time. They offer several ways to get in touch, including by phone (you can call day or night), email, or letter. Last but not least, the creator of MHAW. The Mental Health Foundation, have more helpful information with useful resources on their website available for anyone to browse through.

As an outcome of this year’s campaign, we’ve seen an abundance of resources on managing and understanding mental health, as well as creative activities that promote wellbeing and a sense of community. We even had a competition on our employee intranet to encourage colleagues to share what their peaceful-place looks like (posting a photo or image of something that makes them feel calmer or happier in those high-stress moments).

Hopefully, like us, you’ve found some new inspiration or learned something new throughout this MHAW campaign and you can check back on our social media or any of the links above even now the campaign is complete.

Don’t forget, you can keep up to date with us on Social Media for future campaigns and awareness days!
