Celebrating National Apprenticeship Week

At Fairhive, we are deeply passionate about our apprenticeship programmes and are eager to raise awareness of the opportunities we offer within our community. To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week, we are sharing the experiences of past and present apprentices in the housing sector.
Luke, a former apprentice, shares how his apprenticeship shaped his career:
“I chose an apprenticeship a year and a half after leaving university because I was interested in housing, primarily from a perspective of supporting people. The apprenticeship I completed has completely shaped my housing career. It has led to the position I am in today and has granted me many amazing opportunities. I would recommend this scheme to anyone. Having a supportive and invested employer like Fairhive certainly helps, but the opportunities it offers and the career start it provides are unparalleled.”
Luke’s journey highlights the immense value of apprenticeships in building meaningful careers. With the right support and training, these programs open doors to professional growth and personal development.
Tarannum, our sustainability apprentice, shares her perspective on choosing an apprenticeship and its impact on her career:
“I chose an apprenticeship to apply my academic knowledge in BSc in Soil and Environmental Sciences and MSc Environmental Management in a real-world setting. It allowed me to gain hands-on experience in sustainability, particularly in housing, and bridge the gap between theory and practice. It has enhanced my technical skills in environmental management and sustainability, allowing me to contribute to projects related to energy efficiency, waste management, and sustainable design. It’s been essential in shaping my career, giving me both practical expertise and valuable industry connections.”
Jordan, another apprentice, who has stayed with us, reflects on her journey and how her apprenticeship has contributed to her professional growth:
“All of my friends either went to college or sixth form, but I didn’t feel like I fit into either path. I discovered apprenticeships through the Gov.uk website and found my first opportunity. I have now been with Fairhive for almost eight years. Thanks to my apprenticeship schedule, I have built strong working relationships with colleagues across different departments. Soon, I will be starting a new role within Fairhive, making it my third permanent position here. The knowledge and experience I gained during my apprenticeship have been invaluable in helping me reach where I am today.”
At Fairhive, we are proud to invest in apprentices, fostering talent and helping individuals develop the skills and confidence needed to succeed.
