Engaging with Residents for Big Energy Saving Week

Two ladies from our Sustainability Team sat at a desk with energy-saving information on it.

Our Sustainability Team recently spent the morning at the Community Hub, sharing practical, energy-saving tips with residents as part of Big Energy Saving Week. We talked about simple ways to cut down on energy use, distributed free radiator reflectors to help keep homes warmer, and even handed out bags of coffee grounds that can be used as natural compost for your garden!

Stefania, Resident Liaison and Energy Advisor, added “It’s always great to speak to residents face-to-face. This gives us a chance to help them understand where their home stands in terms of energy efficiency and to present our plan of work as we follow our decarbonisation route. In the meantime, we’re providing small measures and practical advice to make an immediate difference.”

The Welfare Support Team, who run the Community Hub each week, was also available to chat with residents and offer help with navigating challenges related to energy costs.

Big Energy Saving Week is an important initiative that empowers individuals and families to take control of their energy usage, reduce costs, and build more sustainable habits. With rising energy prices and the increasing impact of climate change, this campaign shines a light on practical ways to make a difference both at home and in the wider community.

We understand that small changes can lead to big results. By enabling our residents to adopt energy-efficient practices, not only can we help you reduce household bills but we’ll all be supporting national and global efforts to cut carbon emissions. This ties into our broader sustainability goals as a housing association, which include improving the energy efficiency of our homes, investing in renewable energy, and promoting eco-friendly practices throughout our community.

Our Sustainability Team has been planning more events to get out and see our residents so you can ask us your questions about heating your home, what we are doing to improve the energy efficiency of the homes we maintain and build, or practical actions to take. We’re proud to work with you and our wider community to make a difference and reduce our impact on the environment through energy saving and harnessing more renewable energy sources.

More information about our Sustainability Team and the work they are carrying out can be found on our Warm Improvements Page.
