At Fairhive, our commitment to supporting and empowering our residents is at the heart of what we do.

Springboard Grants are available to any of our residents and come under the Thriving Communities Fund. This type of grant offers residents up to £300 to support opportunities for wellbeing, education, training, or employment. Through the Springboard Grant, we aim to empower residents to pursue their passions and aspirations and support their families to do the same.

In August 2022, we had the pleasure of meeting Barbara, a valued resident who attended one of our Community Engagement events. It was during this event that Barbara found out about the Thriving Communities Fund. Barbara shared, "The team explained that through the Springboard Grant, I could apply for up to £300 to support various opportunities for me and the members of my household. I immediately filled in the forms for myself and my two children.

That year, with the money I received through the grant, I was able to pay for my son’s piano lessons at school and my daughter’s gymnastic lessons. I put my funding into driving lessons, and I passed the Theory test the first time!

Having returned the monitoring forms as evidence of how we had spent the grants, we applied again the following year, and this time I was able to use the grant funding to help provide my son with a laptop that he needed for school work, I could take my daughter to some swimming lessons and I continued to pursue my goal of learning to drive."

With the help of the Springboard grants, we’ve seen how residents like Barbara and her children have taken on new hobbies or activities that have helped them grow in confidence, and embrace fresh opportunities.

Barbara has actively participated in our Community Engagement initiatives, including Boost Your Potential, and as a result of this employability programme, has since secured a role as a Community Engagement Apprentice with us! It was great to talk to her about this recently, particularly as we’ve been celebrating National Apprenticeship Week. She told us, "I am incredibly impressed by Fairhive as a company. I have become involved in the majority of their resident initiatives like forums and panels because they positively impact our livelihood and, essentially, our happiness. I took advantage of their apprenticeship program to learn while earning. It was another great decision and I look to the future with great optimism."

As Barbara looks ahead with confidence, our team is also inspired by her journey and remains dedicated to providing support to all our residents. Thank you to Barbara for sharing her story and if you’d like to know more about how you can apply for Springboard Grants to help achieve a goal or pay for lessons, check out the Grants Guidance section on our website where you will find the application forms and contact details.
