Our Summer of Resident Events

A summer filled with fun and excitement in our community

With the summer holidays in full swing, we’ve been able to provide a series of exciting events specially curated for our younger residents and families. From a family day at Thomley to craft workshops, our events thTwo boys smiling one standing, one on a tricycle on a playground with long path.is year have been a hit!

Our Summer Fun events are an opportunity to take part in a free fun activity across a week of the summer holidays organised and run by our Community Engagement Team. These events are perfect for children on their holidays, as sessions are suited to different age ranges.

First up was our Family Day for a midweek boost! We welcomed our residents to Thomley, a place for people of all abilities and disabilities. This was our first Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) event and the feedback we have received has been amazing. Residents enjoyed the English summer weather outdoors as well as making the most of the two sensory rooms with fibre optics and even an interactive sensor floor. Iva Abbey, Community Engagement Officer added: “This event was very popular and we will look at increasing spaces next year so more of our residents can attend”.

The team enjoyed helping the children get stuck in with tacking up, riding, and washing the ponies ready for the fields. Rosie Mowbray, Our Community Engagement Business Partner, said: “Thank you to all our families and their children who attended this year’s Summer Fun. It was great to see how many got involved and to see how much enjoyment everyone got out of the events. These events are also the first we’ve done as a new team and I couldn’t be prouder of the team for all their hard work and planning. It is great as an organisation that we have the opportunity to provide these events for our residents, of which you can see the benefits first hand.”

For our littlest residents, it was all about getting creative with Craft and Play where parents stayed and got involved with their children and chatted with us about volunteering opportunities, the services we offer, and our Grants Programme.
