Volunteering with us
Volunteering plays an essential role in shaping our services. Our resident volunteers influence positive change and make a big difference for other residents, and members of the community.
What role does a volunteer have at Fairhive?
Volunteering can look slightly different depending on what group you are interested in becoming a part of but in general, resident volunteers contribute valued time and skills to support various programs and services. By collaborating with us, our volunteers help to improve our ways of working, ultimately benefiting other residents. Take a look at our list of groups on our Volunteering page.
We extend a warm welcome to all residents over 18 who wish to share their input. No matter how much time you can spare, we value your opinions and would appreciate hearing from you.
What are the benefits?
Getting involved can bring many benefits such as learning more about Housing and our teams at Fairhive, gaining new experience, and meeting other residents.
Our volunteer initiatives help with community building.
It is an opportunity for individuals to interact with diverse communities and create connections with like-minded people. Building relationships through volunteer work can expand social networks, providing support systems and opportunities for collaboration. It also plays a part in helping us address local needs, tackle housing issues, and create positive change.
Volunteering provides opportunities to develop and refine a wide range of skills.
This can include communication, leadership, and teamwork. Acquiring new skills through volunteering can increase employability, leading to career advancement opportunities.
What do our residents say about volunteering with us?
“Being a volunteer makes a difference to both Fairhive and residents. I feel like I am making things easier. My background is in social services and therefore, I feel like I am part of a community helping people and feeding it back between Fairhive and the residents.”- Elaine
“I enjoy mixing with people and having my opinions heard and listened to. It gives you hope when you are listened to and promotes understanding to have two sides of the story.” - Julie

We have two meetings coming up for our Estates Services and Residents’ Complaints Review Groups. We are welcoming residents as observers to see if our groups may be something that they would like to join, so you can come along and try it out. For further details, please email hello@fairhive.co.uk.
