Volunteers’ Week 2023 – Celebrate and Inspire!
Volunteers’ Week 2023 – Celebrate and Inspire!
We have been joining in the annual awareness week which runs from 1st-7th June, to celebrate the contribution our resident volunteers offer and share some of the benefits.
Our volunteers are an integral part of the shaping of our services. They contribute in such a positive way and have a huge impact in helping us change and adapt to resident’s needs. Getting involved can bring many benefits such as learning more about Housing and our teams, gaining new experiences and skills plus meeting other residents from various backgrounds.
To mark Volunteers’ Week this year, we spoke to members of our Resident Forum panel about their volunteering experiences and why they would recommend it to others to grasp first-hand what they have to say.
On Social Media this week we have been sharing videos from our residents about their involvement and we spoke to Mike, for a written interview.
How long have you been a resident volunteer?
“I have been a resident for 17 years and volunteering since the beginning of 2017. I try to attend all Resident Forum meetings.”
Why did you become a volunteer?
“To be involved, find out more about what’s going on and to voice my opinions. Fairhive are very much open to suggestions from residents.”
What do you enjoy about it?
“I enjoy communicating with other residents, meeting different teams within Fairhive and being involved. Fairhive have done a lot of work to involve and encourage us as residents, providing better two-way communication”.
Why would you recommend volunteering to others?
“It is a great chance to meet other people. Anyone is welcome, from whichever walk of life or background, you will always be included”.
Thank you to all the volunteers out there making a real difference. If you are interested in volunteering, Visit our page on opportunities to find out more.
